Rose was our first home-bred connemara brood mare. She was clever, pretty and gentle and an excellent babysitter as well as a mother: she cared for weanlings just as well as she cared for her own foals. Rose had such an accepting temperament and loved and trusted people, and was well known for her interesting method of getting a ‘butt rub’ from us!
Rose was very ill as a youngster which left her permanently lame, so she was never been ridden. Rose recently sustained a serious and painful hip injury that didn’t respond to treatment, so we made the difficult decision to have Rose put to sleep. She gave us two beautiful foals with Dundrum, Aoife and Anibel, who will continue her legacy but we miss her- she was a one-of-a-kind pony.
