The story of Tom’s rescue and career is on the OHHSWA web site.  We were very lucky to have owned him.

Tom was rescued from the “dog meat” trade at Gunnadorrah station after a drought, and won friends immediately because of his beautiful colour and friendliness.  His background is impeccable, from many generations of Welsh, Arabian and old-style Thoroughbred lines who had adapted to the harsh outback conditions.  In the time we owned him, Tom was a pleasure to handle and preferred to live in a secure stable with a yard and a view.  He was our easiest stallion to manage with mares, and learnt about “hand serving” very quickly and co-operatively. His foals so far have his laid-back approach to life and are also absolutely beautiful, with or without his special colour. Tom died suddenly in a freak paddock accident that occurred during a wind storm.
